Compassion

Compassion

Word of the Week
Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” Luke 22:42

As children of God, and as followers of Christ, our mandate is to be Christlike in all we do. Christ was and is always filled with love and compassion. It was always about impacting everyone’s life for The Father not for Him. It was and is always about how others could gain life despite what they did to Him. When there was a sinner, He chose the person and not the sin, Christ chose to die for the person and not the sin. He always saw beyond what you and me would normally see. When the woman at the well showed up in the afternoon to “fetch” water, she was met with a Man who sought more for her thirst than what she had done. He is a God of mercy. What do we offer those that cross our path? When it was time for crucifixion, He cried out for the cup to pass but He thought of you and me and the obedience in his veins and He gave himself to die for you. Christ was wronged, given away to die, but He kept on course to live His mission. Not even you or me, sin or law, could deter Him from following His course. He started well with love and compassion and finished well with love and compassion.

Now, learning from the compassion of Christ, He looked at the multitude and was filled with compassion for them. When you look at those that seek to deter you, what fills your heart? Revenge? Anger? Giving up hope? Do you lose the course of your actions? Do you end up at a wrong destination? Remember, the focus though it is you, life is not about how you want it to be, but how HE has planned it for you. The good news is that, life has to be lived by YOU, with or without people’s support. Support will be great but the greatest support you need is the Holy Spirit. An expected good ending awaits you. Now, about that issue that’s bugging you, the decision you make today, will show the Christ in you or the self in you. Be filled with compassion. Forgive your way out. Has someone done or is continually doing something wrong to you or simply annoying you, then they are at a place that should move you to want to pray for them. Allow your heart to be filled with His compassion that you may see what Your Father sees.

Prayer

Thank you God for the gift of Jesus!  When nothing could resolve this situation, you gave your very best to die for me.  Thank you for not giving up on us. Thank you for the Holy Spirit that helps me to overcome obstacles.  Thank you that you are praying for me Jesus. Your mercies endure forever.  Amen.
