Happy Fathers Day
Happy Father’s Day
Our Father God commands us to honor our fathers. Honor means to give respect, recognition, and value to; to show honor with your attitude, actions, words. God says a lot about honor. Father God says in His word:
Ex 20:12
Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you
Romans 13:7
Render to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.
Eph 6:1-4
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— 3 “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”
4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
Father’s you are necessary. Your role is vital. Don’t miss it.
A missing dad cannot be replaced. And so there are many fathers who are absent in the life of their children leaving the mother the responsibility of raising the children. To you single mothers, do not despair. Forgive the children’s father for his absence. Teach your children to honor their father if he is involved in their lives in whatever godly capacity. Teach them to honor their fathers for by doing so you are teaching them to respect authority; you are teaching them to honor Father God.
Please know, single mothers, that God is the greatest Father that any person could have. God understands the need for godly father figures in the life of His children. He says in the word that he sets the lonely in families–many times that is spiritual family. Pray to God that He will lead you to a church family that emphasizes fatherhood and mentorship. God will provide godly father figures for your children (ie spiritual family, coaches, mentors, etc).
Psalm 68:5-6 = A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing;
To those who have been wounded by your father, please forgive him. Forgiveness doesn’t justify the wrong doing. Forgiveness begins the healing process in your life.
So the encouragement and challenge today to fathers is this, be effective dads in the life of your children. Be present. Where you have missed it, apologize and seek out restoration in the broken places in your life. Amen
Happy Father’s Day! We honor you today.
