Jehovah Master Strategist II

Jehovah The Master Strategist

Word of the Week

“Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel: My way is hidden from the Lord, And my just claim is passed over by my God?” Isaiah 40 vs 27

R.Mukuruva (Harare)

Continued….

This week as we continue to know God as the Master Strategist lets look at  Jachobed (Moses mother) who disobeyed the law of the land ( albeit it being wrong). Moses then learned the ways of Pharaoh, which he needed when he later faced him in the battle to deliver the children of Israel. Being brought up in Pharaoh’s house he understood the culture, the protocol and had the confidence to stand up and speak out.( Exodus 4:16 7:1&2). As Moses floated in the basket- the Master was planning the deliverance of the Israelites.

Sometimes God’s strategies are clear @Chronicles 14 vs 14-15, He told David how to defeat the Philistines. Many times they are hidden – Joseph- left in the pit, sold as a slave, falsely accused and imprisoned and then promoted. He only saw the fullness as he reveals it in Genesis 50 vs 20- “ you meant it for evil but God ( the Master Strategist) meant it for good to in order…” In other situations they occur as we go about our ordinary business- gleaning  like Ruth in Boaz’s field not knowing to what end.  Other days the Master works behind the scenes slaughtering the enemy and you wake up to victory as He did when there was a siege in Samaria. 2 Kings 6 vs 5-7. In other situations His strategies appear unpleasant as it was for Naaman – he chooses the foolish things of this world to accomplish our breakthrough. Naaman needed to rid himself of pride – the way to his healing was through inconspicuous means ( the maid, Jordan and Elisha sending a messenger). Naaman thought he deserved funfair (2 Kings 5 vs 11-12) but the Master Strategist had another plan to do a greater work in Naaman’s heart. God not only healed his leprosy, He broke his pride.  Your way is not hidden daughter of Zion.

Martha, Martha

Word of the Week

“Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary.  Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10 V 41,42

Someone once said being busy can be classified as “Being Under Satan’s Yoke”.  Isaac tells his son Esau that he will be under the yoke of his brother Jacob.  But if he got restless about it, he will break from this yoke Genesis 27.  Sometimes we are so consumed with this restlessness that you overlook what is important.  The focus then becomes the yoke instead of Christ.  Our sweat does not do it and neither does the muscles in the legs.  Our personal strength can lead us to destruction and fatigue.  Psalms 147 v 10, 11 (RSV) states that “His delight is not in the strength of the horse nor his pleasure in the legs of a man (man’s strength) but the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him (awe of Him) and those who hope (trust) in his steadfast love”. Our help and direction comes from the Lord.  Those that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.  Only God can change things and people and on your own strength you will tire.

Now this is not to say we should not work, but being busy over something that should be laid at the throne of grace for Him to deal with, will leave you tired and the wrong restlessness.  It removes your focus from Him.  You can work for the Lord and being so busy like Martha, but miss the point.  You can be a Pastor, Minister, Mother, Ministry worker, Committee Member, whatever God has called you to do in this season, and be so busy with the plans and leave no room for HIM to speak into your life.  Martha was busy preparing a meal for Him the Lord and it overwhelmed her and asked God to ask Mary to help her.  His response “you are worried and upset about many things but only one thing is needed, Mary has chosen what is better (to be at the feet of Jesus and restore).  Now Martha, Martha, take time to rest at the feet of Jesus and fuel.

“Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel: My way is hidden from the Lord, And my just claim is passed over by my God?” Isaiah 40 vs 27

R.Mukuruva (Harare)

One thing is certain as we journey through life- sometimes we just wont know what the Almighty is up to. Indeed His way will be hidden from us “ hemming us in from behind and before”. Take these examples for instance: Naomi- lost her husband and sons and journeys back to Bethlehem of Judah. Joseph in the pit awaiting his fate yet with a God given dream and Miriam watching her brother float in the basket whilst she hid in the bulrushes waiting to see what Moses’ fate would be. What about Job sitting, scratching his sores bewildered by the calamities that had turned his once full life to bareness.

Behind all these- the Master was at work. He is the one who knows the end from the beginning. As Naomi journeys back she had no clue with each step that destiny awaited her, that her time to experience “nourishment” once again was due. Ever wondered what brought Ruth to glean in the field of the very man earmarked to redeem her? It was the hand of the Master Strategist. What caused Pharaoh’s daughter to show favor to Moses and appoint his mother to nurse him?

Or Reuben to beseech the mercies of his brothers and beg them not to kill Joseph? The Hand of The Master at work. His ways are past finding out- Romans.

Be encouraged to rest- Hebrews 4 vs 3 “ for the works were finished from the foundations of the earth’. There is no longer any need to figure it all out. Knowing that He is in charge as a key player in the journey should allow us to let go of the reigns of the carriage. Going back to our opening verse- your way is not hidden daughter of Zion. The Lord is just at work. Your claims for victory based on His promises have been heard by the Master from end to beginning.  (there is part 2 next week – Jachobed and the Master Strategist!!)

Compassion

Compassion

Word of the Week
Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” Luke 22:42

As children of God, and as followers of Christ, our mandate is to be Christlike in all we do. Christ was and is always filled with love and compassion. It was always about impacting everyone’s life for The Father not for Him. It was and is always about how others could gain life despite what they did to Him. When there was a sinner, He chose the person and not the sin, Christ chose to die for the person and not the sin. He always saw beyond what you and me would normally see. When the woman at the well showed up in the afternoon to “fetch” water, she was met with a Man who sought more for her thirst than what she had done. He is a God of mercy. What do we offer those that cross our path? When it was time for crucifixion, He cried out for the cup to pass but He thought of you and me and the obedience in his veins and He gave himself to die for you. Christ was wronged, given away to die, but He kept on course to live His mission. Not even you or me, sin or law, could deter Him from following His course. He started well with love and compassion and finished well with love and compassion.

Now, learning from the compassion of Christ, He looked at the multitude and was filled with compassion for them. When you look at those that seek to deter you, what fills your heart? Revenge? Anger? Giving up hope? Do you lose the course of your actions? Do you end up at a wrong destination? Remember, the focus though it is you, life is not about how you want it to be, but how HE has planned it for you. The good news is that, life has to be lived by YOU, with or without people’s support. Support will be great but the greatest support you need is the Holy Spirit. An expected good ending awaits you. Now, about that issue that’s bugging you, the decision you make today, will show the Christ in you or the self in you. Be filled with compassion. Forgive your way out. Has someone done or is continually doing something wrong to you or simply annoying you, then they are at a place that should move you to want to pray for them. Allow your heart to be filled with His compassion that you may see what Your Father sees.

Prayer

Thank you God for the gift of Jesus!  When nothing could resolve this situation, you gave your very best to die for me.  Thank you for not giving up on us. Thank you for the Holy Spirit that helps me to overcome obstacles.  Thank you that you are praying for me Jesus. Your mercies endure forever.  Amen.
