Jehovah Sabaoth – The Lord of Hosts

Word of the Week

For behold, He Who forms mountains & creates the wind & declares to man what are His thoughts, He Who makes dawn into darkness and treads on the high places of the earth, the LORD God of hosts (Sabaoth) is His name. Amos 4:13

I love this Lord God of hosts! Chief Commander and God! We have learnt that He heals, He sees, He will see to it that He provides, He protects, He is a sure foundation and He is faithful! There is more to Him that this list of course. Even some words to describe Him are indescribable, His attributes we learn each day. He reveals His secrets to His children and you see another face of Him daily. You got to love this God! Pray that you have an inquisitive mind and a searching heart, a thirstiness and hunger to know Him, more and more.

The whole bible is full of references of Him as the Lord of Hosts. It is my prayer like A W Tozer’s prayer that your prayer will be “ God, Shine Thyself into my understanding for I will never find thee otherwise.” He is “All That”! May God forgive us, when we choose to call Him a name that He is not because of our circumstances.

The prophet Isaiah say “For thus the Lord has spoken to me: As a lion roars, and a young lion over his prey (when a multitude of shepherds is summoned against him, He will not be afraid of their voice Nor be disturbed by their noise) So the Lord of hosts will come down to fight for Mount Zion and for its hill. Like birds flying about, so will the Lord of hosts defend Jerusalem. Defending He will also deliver it. Passing over, He will preserve it.” Picture the fearless lion jealously guarding his prey – so too the Lord of hosts is our Warrior. He will protect, deliver and rescue His covenant people. You are one of them!! You have a Warrior and Defender. Jehovah Sabaoth, your Lord of Hosts. (hosts means armies, troops). Remember, Psalms 46:7, “The Lord of Hosts is with us, the God of Jacob is our refugee, Selah! In Him you find refugee, He is a Strong Tower the righteous (You are in Christ) run into and they are safe. Your Father will do anything to defend you.

Prayer

Father you are my strength and shield in whom I trust. Thank you for the renewed strength in you.! Thank you for the Holy Spirit that helps me to overcome obstacles.  Thank you that you are praying for me Jesus. Your mercies endure forever.  Amen.

The Creator!

Word of the Week

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was a void, and darkness covered the face of the deep. A mighty wind swept over the waters Then God said “Let there be light”In verse 7 of Chapter 1 says “ And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” After that God created woman out of the rib of Adam.  He is the original Creator of all things and beings.

One writer once said, “all faith begins with this fundamental truth: that God is the creator of all things. Everything that is comes from God. Everything that is was once nothing, and was called out of nothingness into being. Everything owes its existence to God.” This truth is at the heart of all things. Well, this got me excited that God is the Creator. Not that He has not been but I got excited that this truth, I love, I would rather be created by One who commands light to shine upon the face of darkness. One who commands light, when suddenly I am surrounded by darkness. The One who created you, and me and KNOWS me and you (like that)!!! When you are sick and none can even fathom, He who created you KNOWS! When your path is unsure, Our Creator knows, for He has already set up a righteous path for you. You cannot even begin to worry about tomorrow when you know that you have a Father, A Healer, Provider, Creator, and the One who sees to it that He comes through according to His word!

You are a beautiful person if you believe that He is the Creator. From the album “Beautiful Things” by Gungor, it is written, “All this pain, I wonder if I ‘ll even find my way, I wonder if my life could really change at all, could all that is lost ever be found, Could a garden come up from this ground at all” then the famous chorus “You make beautiful things, you make beautiful things out of the dust!” My encouragement is, remember you have a Creator who loves you, you have a Shepherd and “Hope is springing up from this old ground.” Your Creator just declares light in your situation, but why, you are dust and He can mold you again, even into another vessel. It is our prayer today that you may Know Him as your Creator. That you just did not show up on earth, but there is a divine purpose upon your life. You alone fulfill a purpose that can best be fulfilled by you. He made you beautiful!

Prayer

Father you are my Creator, my Lord and my God!. Thank you for the renewed strength in you.! Thank you for the Holy Spirit that helps me to overcome obstacles.  Thank you that you are praying for me Jesus. Your mercies endure forever.  Amen.

Jehovah Jireh – My Provider

Word of the Week

And Abraham called the name of the place, “The Lord Will Provide” as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided”. Genesis 22v14

Its interesting to notice that Abraham’s situation was hopeless from the beginning as we see it yet full of hope in the eyes of the Father. He had no child for a fact, he gets a promise that he will be father of many nations, but his other situation was worse. It was hopeless, his body was dead and so was Sarah’s body in regards to conceiving (Romans 4 verse 19). End result Isaac was born. God provided a ram for a sacrifice to Himself and spared Isaac. After Abraham’s obedience, God had to see to it that He provided the sacrifice.

Now Jehovah Jireh (Hebrew) The LORD will provide, the base means – The LORD will see…hallelujah! The Lord will see (He will see to it – that He provides) Well this ought to get you so excited about this name, His name, your Father, Jehovah!. I am so excited to learn that Jehovah Jireh though meaning He is my Provider but He SEES TO IT that He provides! Oh somebody preach this word!! I am reminded of the words by Pastor Donnie “Great is thy mercy” great is your mercy towards me, your loving kindness towards me, your tender mercy I see, day after day. How so true. We have a God who knows, heals, who sees you and who also sees to it that He provides for you. He is faithful to His word for His namesake. He will prove His name to you by doing what He does and who He is. In most cases some provision has to be done His way, and His way can provide obedience.

As we continue to learn about His names, I pray that you come to the full revelation of His loving kindness and grace. It is my prayer that you may Know Him as He wants you to know Him and you can experience what He has set aside just for you. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you. Remember, He is your Provider in all small things and big things, in things you ask and things you don’t ask and that He will see to it that He provides for you – Jehovah Jireh – My Provider.

Prayer

EL Roi – Jehovah Who Sees Me

Word of the Week

She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said “I have now seen the One who sees me’” That is why the well was called Beer Lahai Roi; it is still there, between Kadesh and Bered. Genesis 16 13-14.

So Hagar’s story is one story you could gasp and say “Madam Sarah, what were you thinking?” Sarah volunteered her husband to reproduce with her Egyptian maidservant Hagar. Abraham did not object! While it is a jaw dropping issue, notice that in the desert the moment was for Hagar and Hagar alone in the Presence of God. This was her time with God. Despite the case, God chose to visit with her. This is not to defend her actions but she runs away because she has not behaved well and her mistress mistreated her as a result. In the midst of a desert, in the midst of her problems and issues, and deep in the heat, all alone, plenty of questions, not sure of her tomorrow, the LORD sees her! He sees her in the midst of her circumstances and ministers to her. Her response was one more of a “light bulb” moment… a sudden peace and a sudden relief. When you have had an encounter with God, you know Him by His Name! She called Him “God who sees me.” He is a God who sees you despite the circumstances.

Now, David calls Him, My Shepherd. He is also consumed with the knowledge of God’s perfect knowledge of man. Ps 139 “Oh LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; you understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, O LORD, You know it altogether. You have hedged me behind and before, and laid your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain it. Where can I run from your Spirit? Or where can I flee from your Presence? If I ascend into heaven, you are there; if I make my bed in hell, behold you are there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there you hand will lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. This is a Creator, Our Shepherd, and Our God who sees it all. He is EL Roi (EL-RAW-HEE) – Hebrew translation. Your God who sees you! Even when you feel overshadowed, crowded and you run away from His call, from His Presence…. He still sees you. Whether in the desert or the belly of a fish, He still sees you because HE LOVES YOU.
