Word of the Week

Surely He has borne our grief and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed…. Isaiah 53:4-5

Wiersbe in a commentary once said, “the world’s worst prison is the prison of an unforgiving heart, if we refuse to forgive others then we are only imprisoning ourselves and causing our own torment”. We have a God who is a forgiver of sin, and healer of all sickness from the beginning of the ages. I am reminded of Saul (Paul) who having persecuted all the Christians he could, his life changed when he found favor and had an encounter with Jehovah Rapha (Great Healer). An interesting thing is the events of healing that followed after that. I would doctor Paul and say he was sick, emotionally, spiritually and physically. On emotional healing, when one persecutes God’s people, or when you feel persecuted that’s an emotional imbalance, Ps 107v20 Jehovah answers sinful Israel’s cry of distress “He sent His word and heale

Word of the Week

Let them praise the name of the LORD: for His name alone is excellent: his glory (is) above the earth and heaven.” Psalms 148:13

When I think of the Apostle Paul, I think of a man who has a proven track record eventually knowing the Lord. He has more knowledge of Him and wrote Epistles just to prove that record. Yet, when he says, “That I may Know Him”. That made me stop and think..DO I KNOW HIM? Did Paul not say, “Who art thou Lord” on the road to Damascus? How do you know any person, is it by the name they are called? I believe by relationship and experience of the fellowship and WHO they are to you. That relationship defines your knowing each other. The word “know” is used also to mean when David knew Bathsheba, when Isaac knew Rebekah, an intimate relationship that is defined spiritually and produced life. Now Paul, wanted to “Know Him in the Power of His resurrection”. This Paul who cast out demons, he opened the eyes of the blind, he raised the dead to life, he preached many sermons even by way of his life, been in prison for His name sake, and yet says “I want to know Him”. He knew Him alright! But I believe he came to the revelation and truth that there is MORE for us in Christ!!!! There lies a wealth in the power of His resurrection. There is MORE! Desire More! Need more. Your victory lies in this “more” otherwise there would not have been a resurrection.

Following weeks we are going to study one name of God (God willingly) and pray that we may know Him in the power of His resurrection. That we may testify and say I know Him to be who He is. I know this face of God. This week our choice Name is JEHOVAH SHAMMA.

Jehovah Shamma means, “The Lord is There”. Reference is Ezekiel 48:35. This can also be translated “The Existing One or LORD”. This denotes a God who reveals Himself unceasingly. The name Jehovah Shamma (Hebrew derivation) indicates that God has not abandoned (Jerusalem) leaving it in ruins but that there will be a restoration. May God come through for you my brethren, may He show Himself to you, may you allow for His manifestation unto you and KNOW HIM, so that by the end of the week, you can surely testify and say He is my God, Jehovah Shamma, a God who shows up. May you testify and say, “He showed up!”  May this be a fruitful week for you that is filled with His Presence!
