Mount Moriah

Walking Down Mount Moriah …

Word of the Week

He said to his servants, “stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there, we will worship and then we will come back to you”. Genesis 22Verses 5

Last week we talked about the bells of Mount Moriah calling.  Abraham was going up the mountain to worship.  His instructions were to take his only son whom he loved and go up the mountain and sacrifice.  He was set to do just that.  Upon arrival, during preparation, on the last hour, last minute, divine intervention, He showed up!  My dear, our Father is never late but always on time!  This is for someone today, hold on…you are not forgotten and keep your confidence in Him. He is mindful of you.  Ask Abraham; He is Faithful and stands true to His Word.

I wonder if I can capture your mind for a second to picture this.  I think Abraham is the only one who knows what it felt like going up the mountain step by step, Knowing that he was going to give up his son.  Now imagine you going down that mountain… only Abraham maybe and Isaac knew what it was like.  Rejoicing and faith reinforced!!  Abraham had just told his servants that “we will worship and then we will come back to you”, and to his son he loved the most, he said “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son”. Now picture this, after his promises and God came through for him, how he gathered his pieces together.  How he held his son’s hand and worshipped.  How he fell down on his knees, maybe face, maybe prostrate and cried out in worship.  Did he do like in Revelations cry out “Holy, Holy, Holy”, for he was on Holy ground.  How he got up to go and fulfill his promise to his servants.  Its that kind of walk he did down the mountain that gets me excited.  I know we talk about David’s dance… I think there must have been born an “A.W” well, Abrahamic Walk you know.  A walk of confidence in Him.  A sigh of relief and a skip, a run, a jog, then a walk, then a composure then a laughter and again thanksgiving (I imagine).  Imagine how the servants below felt watching Abraham and Isaac coming down Mount Moriah.  Abraham’s obedience also allowed them to witness the faithfulness of God.  Isaac can surely know Him and say the God of my Father Abraham.

He is worth the wait, your sigh of relief, if you trust in Him,  is nigh.  However, obedience preceeds AW – Abrahamic Walk down the mountain!  The bible ends that story with Gen 22 verse 19, “Then Abraham returned to his servants and they set off together for Beersheba. And Abraham stayed in Beersheba”.

Prayer

Father you are always mindful of me and I thank you for loving me.  Lead me to a place of hearing.  Guide me up the mountain and teach me not to turn back halfway. Thank you for the Holy Spirit that helps me to overcome obstacles.  Thank you that you are praying for me Jesus. Your mercies endure forever.  Amen.

Have you Received Jesus as your Personal Savior?

We must individually receive Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord.  Only then can we know God personally and experience His love and power.

There is only one way to God, which is through Jesus.  Invite Jesus to be Lord of your life.  Confess your sins with your mouth and invite him to be your Lord.  John 3:16 “…whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have eternal life” John 10:10 “if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  You can begin by praying a prayer like this:

Lord Jesus, I need you.  Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins.  I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I am separated from you.  Please forgive me.  I receive you as my Savior and Lord.  Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life.  Please take control of my life.  Make me the kind of person you want me to be.  Amen

(If you have prayed this prayer, and ready for your next level, Congratulations!!! Give us a call or email us and we will rejoice with you and stand with you in prayer.)

Acts of Kindness

Little acts of kindness

Word of the Week
And Isaac went out to meditate in the field in the evening; and he lifted his eyes and looked and there, the camels were coming.  Then Rebekah lifted her eyes, and when she saw Isaac she dismounted from her camel.  Genesis 24 verses 63,64

The bible yet again shows us a perfect love story worth noting.  Rebekah was minding her own business doing her daily chores.  There was nothing strange about her going to draw water; it was the time all women went out to draw water.  What made this time special and set apart was not her chore list, it was her character.  She saw Abraham’s oldest servant, a regular man, who had been sent by Abraham to go and find a wife for Isaac from his country.  Unbeknown to Rebekah, her time had come.  She could have missed “her time” if she had not gone the extra mile, beyond the call of duty,  of giving water to the camels.  It is my understanding that a camel that has traveled the whole day drinks about 200litres in one day!!!  She knew that but she was willing to help the stranger.  That was her task, to be herself and go the extra mile, feeding the camels.  It was not easy because it took a while to water 10 camels with one pitcher.   Her character, kind heart, and willingness to help ushered her destiny.  She did not know that the camels she offered to water WERE HERS!  I want to believe that if she knew that before hand, she would have behaved exactly as she did without knowing it.

Well, maybe you are contemplating about doing something good for a stranger, like you have already helped them before, why now again situation.  The stranger you help today, is the stranger who may lead you to your next season.  We never stop doing what is right  Your going the extra mile should not be for that reason only, but it has to be a way of life.  Soon, who knows, in the midst of a field, on your journey, you lift up your eyes and behold…there is your Isaac, all this time, meditating.

Prayer

Thank you God for the gift of Jesus!  When nothing could resolve this situation, you gave your very best to die for me.  Thank you for not giving up on us. Thank you for the Holy Spirit that helps me to overcome obstacles.  Thank you that you are praying for me Jesus. Your mercies endure forever.  Amen.
